One of the most important parts of this tone is using the correct pickup selection... Joe almost exclusively used the middle selector when playing a Telecaster with the Eagles, combining the bridge and neck pickups. In live video of Hotel California, both Felder and Walsh use the middle switch on their respective guitars---the EDS-1275 and Telecaster. The bridge pickup on its own doesn't quite deliver the right tone. If you only have a strat, I suggest a push-pull switch on one of the pots to turn on either the bridge or neck pickup. My strat has this mod so I can bring in the neck pickup by pulling on the lower tone knob, even with the selector in the bridge pickup (position 1). The 1+5 sound on a strat is a really cool sound that gives off Telecaster and even Les Paul tones. Mark Knopfler actually used this trick to get his tone on Sultans of Swing.

Still have my ME-70 from College back in 2008. If Boss came out with an updated version. I’d think of selling my Headrush. The Cho + Delay is still magical. As-is, the ME-80 already made significant improvements by adding the FX2 section, Octave Fuzz, and Freeze.
